Winter Sports Roundup

  • Girls basketball finished the regular season 21-3 and finished second in the Conference. They ended with a season record of 23-4. Emily Jaenke broke the school’s record for career scorer and won the WIAA 3-Point Challenge for the second year in a row.
  • Boys basketball finished the regular season 21-3 and are co-Conference Champions. They ended with a season record of 22-4. All-conference honors went to Adam Loberger, who was named Conference Player of the Year.
  • Cheer & stunt finished their season with a second-place performance at State.
  • Wrestling ended with the boys at 10-13, and girls 1-1.
  • Boys hockey ended their season at 3-21.
  • The girls hockey final record was 12-10-1.
  • The dance team finished its season at Regionals with their highest score of the season. 


Spring Sports Updates

  • The Foxes girls soccer team took 2nd in Conference and finished with a record of 8-7-4. They lost in Regional competition.
  • Both the boys and girls track & field teams had strong seasons, representing FVL in seven events at the State Meet. Cavan Dobberstein placed third in long jump and second in hurdles, Emma Nilson took third in discus, and Alexa Gordee was second in triple jump. Nilson and Gordee broke school records with their distances. Joining Cavan Dobberstein on the State-qualifying relay team were David Schumacher, Cale Mayer, and Caleb Paluch.
  • In boys tennis, the Foxes took third in the Bay Conference. Singles Christian Monigal finished 4th in Sectionals.
  • Foxes baseball finished 17-9, and softball finished 8-14. Both teams lost in Regional competition.
  • The golf team finished Regionals in 5th place, just 4 strokes shy of qualifying for Sectionals. Kaden Kusserow qualified individually for Sectionals with an excellent score of 86. 

Faculty & Staff News

  • This summer, FVL welcomes five new called workers: Guidance-Mrs. Aleah Freimark and Mrs. Heidi Wendland, Spanish-Mrs. Jackie Gawel, Religion-Rev. Stephen Lehmann, and English-Mr. Tommy Stelter. In addition, Mr. Tyler Dorn, hired as our Media Coordinator last January, has been called to continue in that work and to teach Digital Communication. Changing roles on campus, Mrs. Amy Gilmet will now serve as our Assistant Dean of Student Life, and Mr. Tom Guenterberg will be a full-time instructor. 
  • Two called workers have said goodbye at the end of the 2022-23 school year: Rev. Aaron Dolan will be serving as a theology professor at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN, while Mrs. Gabrielle Solomon has resigned to give full-time attention to raising her family. 
  • In staff news, Mr. Gregg Schreiber will retire at the end of August. Through the summer, Mr. Matthew Schlueter will transition into the role of Facilities Manager. New hires include Mrs. Kristen Zuberbier as a Guidance Counselor and Mrs. Amanda Voight as Guidance Assistant.

Student Honors

  • Christian Flink; Hayoung Lee; Ethan Melso; Ian Mattek & Jack Breiland; Lili Vande Walle & Lauren Wilson; and Giovanna Flink; Connor Ohland; Bryghton Birkey, Daniel Drews, & Bryce Ziegler; Hailey & Audrey Ziegler; and Ava Klinger all finished in the top five places at the State Future Business Leaders of America competition.
  • The VEX Robotics top team, 5062X XenoFox, finished in the quarterfinals of the World Championship. This is the equivalent of the top 80 in the world. They were also awarded the Design Award for their division, which recognizes an organized and professional approach to the Engineering Design Process, project and time management, and team organization. That means that their design process and documentation is considered one of the top ten in the World! This huge honor was further recognized with an official commendation by the Mayor of Appleton.
  • In Forensics, four students medalled at State: Naomi Doriot & Allison Lueddecke (silver), Meyah Ring (gold), and Darrith DeChaney (gold).

Honors for FVL Faculty

  • On January 17, Rev. Dave Wenzel and his girls basketball coaching staff achieved the impressive milestone of 500 career wins. 
  • On February 20, Mr. Brian Zunker was presented a 2023 Fox Cities Chamber’s Excellence in Education Shining Star Award. Mr. Zunker received the Excellence in STEM Award.
  • On February 25, President Jeffrey Loberger was recognized for successfully completing his Masters in Business Administration program through MSOE.
  • On April 21, Mrs. Brenda Mears (pictured) was honored by Governor Tony Evers with the 2022 Governor’s Financial Literacy Award, recognizing her efforts in helping Wisconsinites build their financial literacy and capability skills.

FoxFest 2023

This year's event was held at the Hilton Appleton Paper Valley in April. Due to the generosity of those involved, a net profit of over $165,000 will benefit tuition assistance. Thanks to all for their support. Plan to join us on April 12 for FoxFest 2024!

This year’s event was sold out with 152 players at High Cliff Golf Course. All proceeds benefit the Fans of Foxes in support of FVL athletic programs!

Theatre Awards

Congratulations to the cast and crew of FVL’s spring production Anastasia: The Musical for their tremendous efforts this spring. The production won an Outstanding Ensemble award in the Center Stage High School Musical Program through the Fox Cities PAC. Additionally, Grace Peters won an Outstanding Performance in a Lead Role award.
