Both boys and girls cross country seasons ended at the sectional meet, held in Kiel. Boys placed 9th, and girls placed 6th. For the girls, Rowen Volhard received First Team all-conference. Second Team honors went to Anna Feuerstahler. For the boys, Mason Dobberstein received Second Team all-conference, and Honorable Mention went to Henry Laabs.
The girls golf team ended third in the NEC. FVL got placed into Division 1 for playoffs, and senior CJ Woosley qualified for sectionals. Second Team all-conference went to Elliot Kriewaldt.
Foxes football was 6-5 in its first season in the Bay Conference. They defeated Wasau East 44-41 in the Level 1 playoff game on October 25, but fell in their Level 2 game against Medford (42-22) on November 1. The offensive players earning First Team honors for the Foxes were Reagan Doriot (unanimous), Nicholas Martin (unanimous), and David Schumacher (unanimous). Schumacher was also named Receiver of the Year, and was named to the all-region team. Second Team honors went to Peyton Lemberger and Lucas Papendorf. Honorable Mention went to Graham Feidt and Isaac Vadala. On the defensive side, Second Team went to Graham Feidt, Gabe Heiges, and Jack Schlueter.
The FVL soccer team secured the conference title for the third season in a row at 6-0-1 and finished their season at 11-8-2 overall. The Foxes ended their season with a regional loss to Ripon. The game was tied after two overtimes, and Ripon advanced after a shoot-out. Earning First Team honors for the Foxes were Jin Lee, Ezra Schaser, and Kaleb Williams. Williams was also named Boys Soccer Offensive Player of the Year in a unanimous decision. Lee was named Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the all-state team. Second Team went to Keaton Enter and Ian Luehring, while Marti Hostalot Heredia earned Honorable Mention.
The girls tennis team finished the regular season with a record of 7-5. Our team took 3rd place in the Bay Conference. Singles athlete Linda Bowater made it to the second round of the state tennis tournament! First Team all-conference honors went to Singles: Linda Bowater and Doubles: Johanna Mears & Avery Steffes. Second Team all-conference honors went to Doubles: Corinna Bero & Adele Depner.
The volleyball team finished tied for 1st in the conference at 8-1 and was 32-6 overall. They fell to Freedom (3-1) in the Regional Final. Receiving First Team all-conference honors was Riley Schmitz (unanimous). Second Team honors went to Molly Bixby, Ava Patchett, Hannah Uhlenbrauck, and Sophia Wunderlich.
The Timothy Trout Sports Center was officially opened following a dedication service and open house held on campus on Sunday, November 10. Due to rain, the service was held in the Academic Building. After the dedication, Mrs. Sandra Trout cut the ribbon and the Trout Center was open to visitors. The building will be utilized by our winter and spring sports teams and by our physical education classes, but will not be available for public use at this time.
FVL Theatre’s fall production of Alice in Wonderland received excellent feedback from theater-goers at all three public performances (October 18-20). The engaging costumes and set pieces seemed to draw the most acclaim.
The Theatre Dept. has now turned its attention to the spring musical: Tarzan. We are anticipating an excellent production! Two grade school previews will held during the day on Tuesday, March 4. Watch for online (fvlhs.org/news) ticket sales to begin in January for our public performances: March 7, 8, and 9.
Save the date for FVL’s 22nd annual FoxFest Auction on Friday, April 11 at the Appleton Hilton Paper Valley. Enjoy the meal and this year’s Fab Fifties auction fun. All tickets will be sold in advance. No tickets will be available at the door. This is the largest fundraising event of the school year and primarily benefits tuition assistance. The FVL Chapter of the National Honor Society held its 44th annual induction ceremony on September 30. 75 students were inducted at this event, bringing the total NHS membership up to 134. Financial Advisor, Brian Boehm of Third Coast Advisors, delivered the evening’s address.
Our annual 8th Grade Welcome Night was held on October 21. Eighth grade students interacted with future classmates and enjoyed fun activities, while their parents learned about various high school opportunities, financial aid, scheduling, as well as other important “new to high school” topics. Over 400 parents and students participated in the event.
Thrivent members who own qualifying investment products have the opportunity to direct their 2024 Choice Dollars to FVL, their home church/school, or other qualifying organizations. The deadline is March 31. Visit the Thrivent website or contact your Thrivent representative. Each year, many supporters remember FVL in this way.

The 2025 FVL Golf Outing will take place on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Wander Springs Golf Course in Greenleaf. Watch for registration beginning in May.

FVL has received six new flight simulators. The simulators are funded by the Pilot Workforce Grant by the FAA, which is aimed at generating interest in aviation careers, especially in piloting! With a growing demand for new pilots, this grant helps equip students with tools to explore a future in aviation.
