Trusting
in God's Plan
17 Years of Faithful Service
This year, FVL says goodbye to Mrs. Krista Davis, who has been employed in the Business Office at FVL for nearly 17 years (October '26 would be her anniversary). Over the years, her business acumen and her professionalism have been extreme blessings to FVL, but anyone familiar with Krista knows that even greater than these qualities are her faithfulness in God and the trust she puts in his promises.
“God has a plan for all of us,” she reflects, “and although life may present many trials and difficulties, we must trust in his path, even when it seems unexpected. I never envisioned myself being here at FVL; however, I have learned the importance of trusting in that path, and he has surely blessed it.”
Upon graduating in 1984, Krista (Olm) would never have guessed that she’d end up devoting so much of her life to employment at FVL. Instead, Krista spent the first 25 years of her adult life as a self-employed business owner, delving into a wide-variety of fields from wholesale jewelry, to retail, to trucking, to real estate.

Living in Arizona and having concerns about their children’s education along with missing family and friends, Krista and her husband, Pasquale, started considering and praying about a move back to the Fox Valley. Before she knew it, considerations became plans. A friend told Krista that FVL was hiring in their Business Office, and she was inspired by the prospect of both working at her old high school and having a job with less taxing demands than the real estate work she had been doing at the time. After a few phone interviews, she was offered the job, and two short weeks later, she was in Wisconsin and working for FVL.
As she tells it, Krista never intended her employment at FVL to be a long-term career move. The employee that she replaced (Mrs. Judy Burleton) had retired from 20 years of service to FVL, and Krista distinctly remembers thinking to herself that she had no intention of working for FVL for that long. Now, 17 years later, she credits the time she spent here with the joy she finds in being a part of God’s work in action and with her ability to adapt to change. Over the course of her time at FVL, the school has seen a number of changes in administration. Krista counts it as a blessing that she’s always been able to have open communication with school leadership. Additionally, she worked alongside many different people over the years. She fondly recalls learning from all of these people, some of whom she still keeps in contact with.
After initially setting her sights for retirement on August of 2026, she is now planning on extending her employment into the fall, pending the training of her successor. In her retirement, she is looking forward to spending more time with family, to traveling, and to staying warm. To reach that last goal, she specifically mentioned the possibility of snowbirding in Arizona or in a location with beaches.
“I am deeply grateful for the blessings in my life,” Krista concluded, when I sat down with her in preparation for this writing, and she asked specifically for this article to be closed with this promise from Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Thank you for your years of service, Krista, and may God continue blessing your life, in whatever direction he leads you.
