FVL Flashback to the 1980s

Important FVL firsts during the decade . . .

  • Computers were installed.
  • Report cards were computer-generated in 1980-81. 
  • The school budget exceeded $1,000,000 early in the decade
  • FVL students were inducted into the National Honor Society. 
  • Winterfest was held on 2/3/83. 

More fast facts . . .

  • The Peanut Brittle Ladies Group purchased and donated a lawnmower to the school in late 1980.
  • It cost $ .95 per day to get school lunch in 1983-84, and supporters were thanked for donating produce (onions, tomatoes, beets, rhubarb, and more) to the lunch program to keep the cost down.
  • The December 1988 Christmas concert was accompanied by a new Rodgers Electronic Model 755 organ at the cost of $28,580.
