The girls cross country team took 8th at Sectionals, and the boys took 11th. The girls finished 4th at the Conference Meet, while the boys finished 6th. For the girls, Kristen Donart (pictured) received First Team All-Conference. Second Team honors went to Rowen Volhard, and Honorable Mention went to Claire Fischer and Carys Wendland. For the boys, Mason Dobberstein received Second Team All-Conference, and Honorable Mention went to Gavin Trygstad.
The girls golf team went undefeated, 16-0, to earn 1st place in the Conference, and finished at Sectionals. First Team All-Conference went to Lauren Movrich (pictured) and CJ Woosley, Second Team All-Conference went to Elliot Kriewaldt and Cecilia Hermann, and Joie Gutekunst earned Honorable Mention.
Foxes football finished 3rd in the Conference at 5-2, was 7-4 overall, and once again qualified for the WIAA playoffs. The offensive players earning First Team honors for the Foxes were Liam Heiges, Jack Egan, Noah Nelson, and David Schumacher (Unanimous). Second Team honors went to Josiah Robbert and Adam Loberger. Honorable Mention went to Lucas Papendorf. On the defensive side, First Team All-Conference went to Jack Egan, Liam Heiges, Gabe Krueger (Unanimous), while Second Team went to Trenton Heyn, Lucas Papendorf, and Mac Kramer.
The FVL soccer team secured the Conference Title in back-to-back seasons at 7-0 and finished the regular season at 13-7 overall. The Foxes reached the Regional Final before losing to Kewaskum (2-3) in OT. Earning First Team honors for the Foxes were Ben Keller, Reed Curtis, John Callaway, and Matthew Callaway. Keller was also named Boys Soccer Defensive Player of the Year, and Curtis was named Offensive Player of the Year. Second Team went to Sam Ferge, Christian Monigal, and Jin Lee, while Morten Harlfinger earned Honorable Mention.
The girls tennis team went 9-5 on the season, taking 3rd place in the Bay Conference. Second Team All-Conference honors went to Single: Giovanna Flink, Doubles: Amelia Segelstrom (pictured) and Johanna Mears, and Doubles: Natalie Raschka and Amelia Kelley.
The volleyball team finished 1st in the Conference at 9-0 and was 36-7 overall. They defeated Lux-Casco to win the Regional Final, but lost the next round to Xavier in the Sectional Semi-Final. Receiving First Team All-Conference honors were Riley Schmitz, Emma Nilson, and Annalise Patchett. Second Team honors went to Ava Patchett and Molly Bixby, and Honorable Mention went to Brianna Stewart. Emma Nilson was named NEC Player of the Year.
Mr. Jeremy Ellsworth has accepted a call to serve as the Industrial Arts teacher (metals). Colin Paustian has accepted a call to teach science and math, beginning in the 2024–25 school year. FVL Theatre’s fall production of John Cariani’s Almost, Maine received excellent feedback from theater-goers at all three public performances (October 20-22). The emotional depth of the performers and the seamless dialogue of each scene seemed to draw the most acclaim.
The theatre department has now turned its attention to the spring musical:
Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins. We are anticipating an excellent production! Both grade school previews have already sold out. Watch for online ticket sales to begin in February for our public performances: March 1, 2, and 3.

The FVL Chapter of the National Honor Society held its 43rd annual induction ceremony on October 2. 17 seniors and 58 juniors were inducted at this event. The new faculty adviser to the organization, Mr. Kyle Melso, delivered the address.
Senior Michael Ramos has been named a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship competition.
Thrivent members who own qualifying investment products have the opportunity to direct their 2023 Choice Dollars to FVL, their home church/school, or other qualifying organizations. The deadline is March 31. Visit the Thrivent website or contact your Thrivent representative. Each year, many supporters remember FVL in this way.
Save the date for FVL’s 21st Annual FoxFest Auction on Friday, April 5 at the Appleton Paper Valley. Enjoy the meal and this year’s western-themed auction fun. All tickets will be sold in advance. No tickets will be available at the door. This is the largest fellowship event of the school year and primarily benefits tuition assistance. Watch for more info in February!
The 2024 FVL Golf Outing will take place on Friday, June 14 at a new location—Wander Springs Golf Course in Greenleaf. This course can accommodate a higher number of golfers for this popular event.
Sophomore Claire Holland (pictured with FVL band director James Neujahr) auditioned for and was selected to be a member of the Wisconsin School Musician’s Association State Honors Orchestra. She performed in October during the State Music Conference, in Madison.
