Thank You

for Your Years of Ministry

The quality, Christ centered education provided at FVL would not be possible without faculty and staff who are dedicated to the ministry. This year, James Neujahr (40 years) and Alan Nolte (25 years) are celebrating landmark years of service. We thank God for their faithful commitment to Christian education!

JAMES NEUJAHR - 40 Years

Mr. James Neujahr was initially assigned to teach grades 5 and 6 at St. Paul Lutheran in Columbus, OH. There, he also directed the school’s band program. From there he was called to Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond Du Lac. He began teaching at FVL in 1998. In addition to his work with FVL and FVL Schools bands, he has been on the staff of Lutheran Vanguard of Wisconsin (LVW) since 1987, serving as its Executive Director since 1998.

James is very fond of his experience with LVW over the years. “I have gotten to know band directors, students, and parents from all of the Vanguard Member schools,” he relates. “The greatest blessing is seeing those students over all of these years using their God-given gifts to glorify God in all they do, whether it is traveling, rehearsing, or performing on the street or on the field.”

James and his wife, Julie, have four children, all graduates of FVL. The couple loves being grandparents of their five grandchildren.

ALAN NOLTE - 25 Years

Mr. Alan Nolte spent a year emergency teaching in Sturgis, Michigan, before he graduated from MLC in 2000 and was assigned with his wife Melissa to both teach at Zion, Toledo, OH. After five years as principal and teacher, Alan accepted a call to FVL as a computer and math instructor in 2005. One year later, he accepted a new position as Assistant Principal for Academics and has been a part of the FVL administration ever since. He has served as principal at FVL since 2019.

Over the years, Alan has been privileged to participate in many activities and initiatives, including track coaching, the Project Lead the Way STEM program, FVL Schools curriculum development, WELSSA visits, and other synod projects. He also has a passion for continuing education, which has led to a Master's degree from MLC, and he is currently working towards a doctorate from Concordia University Wisconsin.

Alan and his wife have been blessed with four daughters: two graduates from FVL, one still at FVL, and another at Riverview Lutheran, where Melissa serves as a kindergarten teacher.
