God's Love

Enables Rejoicing

Bible nestled in the arm of someone

Philippians 4:4 states, “Rejoice in the Lord always.” This powerful verse from the Apostle Paul is memorized by many Christians and is often recalled for encouragements and conversations with others. Rejoicing in the Lord involves more than a mere celebration of happiness; it is a profound response to God’s unchanging love for us given through his eternal promises.

In a world often filled with trials, God’s call for us to rejoice often seems difficult and even impossible; however, the joy we have as Christians is rooted not in earthly circumstances, but in our relationship with a loving and gracious God. Reminders of his love, faithfulness, and mercy for us make it easier to maintain hearts of gratitude and joy. That joy we have is evident to those around us.

Rejoicing in the Lord through all circumstances—including the challenging ones—reminds us that God keeps his promises, specifically his promise that even hardships work for our good. We will continue to see the Lord’s hand in our lives, both in good times and in times of trouble. This will enable us to move past the negatives and to cling to a deeper reliance and appreciation for what the Lord has provided, and continues to provide, for our daily lives, now and through eternity!
