The Journey Back Home

Introducing Cody Bohl,
FVL's new Mission Advancement Counselor

I grew up on farmland just outside of Appleton, knowing my plan was to leave once I graduated high school. After years of bouncing around the state for college, grad school, and multiple career stops, oddly enough, God brought me back to Fox Valley Lutheran. He has a funny way of working like that.

It was an out-of-the-blue text from the best man in my wedding (you know him as Admissions Director, Joe Blum). He gave me a heads up that FVL might have an opening if I was looking. At the time, I wasn’t. But figured a conversation wouldn’t hurt, and after talking with President Jeff Loberger and Director of Mission Advancement Jay Wendland, my mood changed from not looking to very interested. It felt like a good fit and a right place/right time scenario. Fast forward a few months, and I’m happy to say that I’ve joined FVL as the new Mission Advancement Counselor.

After graduating from FVL in 2008, I earned my bachelor’s degree in communications from Wisconsin Lutheran College. Uncertain of what I wanted to do from there, I continued my education at Edgewood College as a graduate assistant, where I worked in the athletic department, and received my master’s in Educational Leadership with an athletic administration emphasis.

Outside of a two-year stint as a corporate marketing coordinator, I spent the better part of the last decade working in an athletic department, doing a little bit of everything – communications, marketing, events, fundraising, alumni outreach, and more. All of these experiences, along with many prayers and conversations, have led me to this role.

I met my wife, Tabitha (a 2011 Wisconsin Lutheran High School grad), in Milwaukee. We welcomed our first daughter, Harlow, in February 2023. Tabitha has family ties in Green Bay, and works remotely for Amazon; that helped with the move as well. We’re excited to grow and raise our family in the Fox Valley area.

As a proud FVL grad, I’m looking forward to reconnecting and meeting fellow alumni. In my role as Mission Advancement Counselor, I’ll have the opportunity to do just that. In addition to helping with things around campus, I’ll have my hand in events, fundraising, our Partnering With Business program, alumni gatherings, and FVL’s communication pieces that reach all of you. Although I never would have expected to be back at FVL, God had this plan for me all along, and I'm blessed to serve Him in this capacity. It’s a surreal feeling though, and I am still trying to get used to calling some of my former teachers by their first names!

If you have any questions about my journey back to FVL or my current role, just want to chat, or want to know about how we can serve you, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
