Spring Sports Updates

  • The Foxes girls soccer team took 3rd in Conference and finished with a record of 6-9-5. They lost in the Regional Final competition to Plymouth.
  • Both boys and girls track & field teams had strong seasons, representing FVL in six events at the State Track Meet. Emma Nilson took first in shot put and third in discuss. Girls 4x100 relay (Sophia Wunderlich, Annalise Patchett, Amethyst Holmes, Mya Burleton) made the podium, taking 4th with a time of 49.6 seconds.
  • The boys tennis team took 4th place in the Bay Conference with a 4-3 regular season record.
  • Foxes baseball finished 15-13 overall with a conference record of 12-6, losing in the Regional Championship to Mosinee.
  • Softball finished 17-7 overall with a conference record of 11-7.
  • The golf team finished in 5th place in the NEC. Kaden Kusserow was 2nd team all-conference with an average score of 83.2. 

Faculty & Staff News

This summer, FVL welcomes four new called workers: Mr. Jacob Leyrer, an MLC assignment to our Math Department; Mr. Jason Malkowski also to our Math Department; Rev. Tom Mielke, our new Director of Mission Advancement; and Mr. Colin Paustian, a science and tech teacher. In addition, Mr. Nathan Schleef will be taking on a full-time teaching load, and Mrs. Kathy Kolell has accepted a one-year call to teach English part-time.


Three called workers have said goodbye at the end of the 2023-24 school year: Miss Lauren Ewings will be serving as an English teacher at Divine Savior Academy in Sienna, TX. Dr. Katie Luebke will be teaching at Kingdom Prep in Milwaukee, WI. Mr. Jay Wendland has resigned to pursue a career in financial advising. 


In staff news, Mrs. Heather Knoll has resigned her position, which is now being split into two part-time positions. Our new administrative assistant is Mrs. Rachel Bonson, who has been working with us since April, and our new executive assistant, Mrs. Julia McLister, will start work at the end of July. Additionally, our new Media Center Assistant, Mrs. Stephanie Thomas, will start in mid-August.

Student Honors

  • Gigi Flink (Class of 2025) and Ava Klinger (Class of 2026) finished in the top five places at the state Future Business Leaders of America competition and are eligible to compete at Nationals this summer.
  • For VEX Robotics, Team 5062F (Bethany Koch, Nathan Meyer, Adam Erdmann, Ella Erdmann, and Leah Dorn) and Team 5062S (Justin Kong, Jim Yang, Chris Wang, Ruiqi Li, Ruth Dorn, and Emma Zhang) competed in the VEX World Championship in Dallas, TX, after having qualified at State.
  • The following students medaled at State in Forensics: GOLD: Naomi Doriot & Allison Lueddecke, Emily Groth (Prose), Sarah Groth, Meyah Ring, and Samara Tucker; SILVER: Emily Groth (Storytelling), Brynlee Jeffries, Izzibell Pellicane, and Liam Sommerfeldt; BRONZE: Leah Dorn and Megan Gomulkiewicz.
  • Noah Nolte was named FVL’s 2024 Appleton Rotary Outstanding Junior.
  • National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist is Michael Ramos.

Honors for FVL Staff

FVL's Financial Controller, Krista Davis, was a finalist for Insight Publications’s CFO of the Year Awards 2023 in the Not-for-Profit category. Held on Dec. 5 at Lambeau Field, this event honored the contributions of financial leaders throughout Northeast Wisconsin. Mrs. Davis was among 30 finalists across six categories that represent the best in financial leadership.

Trout Educator Award

Congratulations to Mr. Peter Sehloff, who was named recipient of the annual Trout Educator Award.

FoxFest 2024

was held at the Hilton Appleton Paper Valley in April. Due to the generosity of those involved, proceeds of over $200,000 will benefit the ministry of FVL. Thanks to all for their support. Watch for the 2025 date to be shared in late summer!

Congratulations to our 2024 Prom King, A.J. Doyen, who reigned over Prom Frolic festivities with his escort, Mallory Hess.

Poster Contest Winners

The winners of the 35th FVL Poster Contest were announced at school visits in April. Top awards went to the 3rd grade grand prize winner, Oliver Gullickson, and to the 4th grade grand prize winner, Stella Danelski, both from Immanuel-Greenville. All first place winning posters will be displayed at FVL through next year and on the FVL website at fvlhs.org/poster. Congratulations to these young artists!

Annual Golf Outing

This year’s event was sold out with 204 players at Wander Springs Golf Course. Over $25,000 was raised to benefit FVL athletics! Congratulations to our winning teams: Collin Huza, Spenser Jens, Kale Gnewikow, and Luke Movrich on the River course; Dave Anderson, Tim Revell, Jason Schmidt, and Joe Woldt on the Garden course; and Doug, Jared, Noah, and Owen Selle on the Spring course.

Theme logo for the new year - Rejoice in the LORD Always

2024-2025 Theme

Based on Philippians 4:4, the FVL Schools annual theme for next school year is Rejoice in the Lord Always. Thanks to Rev. David Wenzel of FVL for the idea and the FVL Religion Department for organizing monthly sub-themes. The design was created by Mrs. Sharon Ragner in the Communications Office.

Award

After having been nominated by Mr. Ben Stern (FVL science teacher and a lieutenant in the US Coast Guard Reserve), FVL has been awarded the WI ESGR Above and Beyond Award. 


This award recognizes employers at the local level who have gone above and beyond the legal requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act by providing their Guard and Reserve employees additional, non-mandated benefits such as differential or full pay to offset lost wages, extended health benefits, and other similar benefits. 


FVL is one of only three WI employers selected in the Private Sector Less Than 500 Employees category to receive this award.
